You Said, We Heard: Virtual Education Program Classrooms

What is "You Said, We Heard"?

Every year, the Peace River School Division invites upper elementary, Jr. High and Sr. High students to meet with the Superintendent and Board of Trustees to talk about what is important to them when it comes to education. Over the next several weeks we are going to share some of the things students highlighted and some of the ways the PRSD is responding to these topics of discussion.

Direct from our Students

Today, we are taking a look at what students in our virtual education program (VEP) had to say about their classroom spaces. Students expressed the opinion that the technology requirements in VEP classrooms should be assessed differently from the technology needs of students in traditional classrooms. Students also mentioned a desire to better personalize the VEP classrooms to be a more engaging place to learn.

With hundreds of high school students utilizing the VEP, the PRSD must carefully adjust our best practices to ensure responsible spending of provincial funding. We strive to maintain a balance, as funds allocated to technology directly influence staffing levels across our schools. With that being said, the PRSD remains committed to undergoing further consultation with students and staff to identify both perceived and actual areas of concern in the VEP classrooms.

The included photos below feature a few of the students in the Worsley Central School VEP classroom. To read previously published "You Said, We Heard," posts, click HERE.
