You Said, We Heard: Space at FALS
What is "You Said, We Heard"?
Every year, the Peace River School Division invites upper elementary, Jr. High and Sr. High students to meet with the Superintendent and Board of Trustees to talk about what is important to them when it comes to education. Over the next several weeks we are going to share some of the things students highlighted and some of the ways the PRSD is responding to these topics of discussion.
Direct from our Students
During our conversation with senior high school students, students who attended Fairview and Area Learning Store expressed concern over the lack of physical space within their current facility. Specifically, students expressed frustration over being unable to attend FALS in person to complete their coursework during exam periods because all available space was needed to students writing exams.
At the end of the last school year, the Division took one step toward addressing this student concern by ensuring the student enrolment at FALS met the criteria of students who need a flexible learning environment. Additionally, we increased the space available by adding a satellite centre in Cleardale with an additional teaching unit on a trial basis.
The photos below are of: a FALS student who has recently self-published her first book (more on that in the new year!); photos of students who participated in the 2024 student engagement sessions.
