A Division Rooted in the Peace Country
The Peace River School Division includes eight K-12 schools, three elementary schools, one middle school, two high schools, and three Hutterite Colony schools. We also offer collegiate programming in the area of heavy equipment trades training and commercial driving, and offer a diverse Alternative Education program through Peace Learning Connection. Our Division educates approximately 2,900 students.
Our schools sit in Peace River, Grimshaw, Berwyn, Fairview, Hines Creek, Worsley, Cleardale, Manning, Nampa, and Red Earth Creek. Some schools serve around 100 students, while others boast an enrollment of nearly 500. Each of our schools are important parts of the communities they sit in.
The Northern Advantage
Small enough to be known
In a division our size, you are not a number on a staffing spreadsheet. Superintendents know teachers by name. Principals know every student in the building. New staff are onboarded by people who will still be checking in on them in March.
Learning that leaves the classroom
Our location makes land-based learning possible in a number of different ways and subject areas. Students learn about plant medicines from Indigenous Elders in their own communities. They study the fish lifecycle at Wilderness Park near Grimshaw. And, our teachers build lessons around what students can see and experience directly outside the classroom windows.
Room to grow
PRSD supports continuous learning for every employee group, not only teachers. Schools are supported by divisional curriculum coordinators, divisional social workers, school-based student success facilitators, as well as both school-based and divisional inclusive education coaches.

A short commute & more time for what you love
Most PRSD staff live a short drive from where they work. The time you would spend in traffic elsewhere is time you get back to do the things you love.

The River Valley
When you work for the Peace River School Division, the Peace River valley, the Shaftesbury Trail, Wilderness Park, Lac Cardinal and Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park, George Lake, the Dunvegan Valley and so much more are right at your doorstep. Hiking, paddling, fishing, skiing and hunting are not weekend expeditions here. They are what awaits at the end of your workday. Learn more about what our region has to offer by visiting the Mighty Peace Tourism website.

Communities that show up
Our schools are woven into the towns and hamlets around them. Rodeos, fall suppers, hockey rinks, farmers’ markets, community theatre, and Pow Wows. Staff who move here from elsewhere consistently say the same thing: people in our communities are connected in ways you just don't experience in larger centres.

Additional Opportunities
Become a school bus driver
PRSD is hiring school bus drivers across the Division, and we will train you. Class 2 driver training is provided at no cost, and drivers are paid for their training hours after successfully obtaining their licence. You need only a Class 5 licence to begin.
It is a part-time schedule that works around a life. Parents bring their preschool children on the bus with them. Retirees, grandparents and educational assistants have all built rewarding careers behind the wheel.
Peace Collaborative Services
Peace Collaborative Services is a regional collaborative service delivery system coordinating support across six northwest Alberta school jurisdictions, including PRSD.
The PCS team includes teachers, therapists and allied rehabilitation personnel working in occupational therapy, psychology, physical therapy, mental health, speech-language pathology, and programming for students who are deaf, hard of hearing or visually impaired. Services are delivered in the school setting.

Building an Equitable and Inclusive Workplace
Peace River School Division is committed to upholding the values of equity, diversity and inclusion in our living, learning and work environments. We know that we all share responsibility for creating an equitable, diverse, and inclusive community. This commitment is specifically demonstrated through our dedication to anti-racism and our ongoing work toward Truth and Reconciliation. In pursuit of our values, we seek members who are eager to participate in that shared responsibility.
We actively encourage applications from members of historically and systemically underrepresented groups including but not limited to women, Indigenous people and other members of a visible minority group, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. We recognize that many of these identities intersect and that equity, diversity and inclusion can be complex. We value the contributions that each person brings and are committed to ensuring full and equal participation for all in our community. We commit to identifying and actively removing systemic barriers to ensure a respectful, safe, and welcoming environment free from discrimination, including racism.
