You Said, We Heard: Vaping - Part 2
What is "You Said, We Heard"?
Every year, the Peace River School Division invites upper elementary, Jr. High and Sr. High students to meet with the Superintendent and Board of Trustees to talk about what is important to them when it comes to education. Over the next several weeks we are going to share some of the things students highlighted and some of the ways the PRSD is responding to these topics of discussion.
Direct from our Students
In a continuation of our discussion on vaping students spoke about a general level of apathy regarding the potential harmful side effects of vaping. They expressed a desire for the Board of Trustees to work with other local public bodies to run an education campaign on the harms of vaping.
In response, the PRSD Board of Trustees have spoken, and continue to speak, with Provincial MLAs and other government leaders to discuss the way vaping products in particular are marketed to youth. The Board has also initiated an advocacy policy position highlighting their concern with the Alberta School Boards Association.
