January Superintendent's Message: Alberta Education Student Assurance Surveys

Parents, please be on the lookout for a letter in your mailbox from the Alberta government containing a survey about our school division. The surveys generally come to parents of Grade 4, 7 and 10 students, but have come to parents of other grades as well. Families who have more than one student in eligible grades will receive a separate survey invitation package for each child.

This survey is important to the Peace River School Division, and we value your honest feedback. The more parents completing these surveys, the more accurate and meaningful the results are for the Division’s staff. If you believe you have misplaced the survey code sent to you through the mail, you can still participate by requesting a paper copy through your school principal.

When completing your survey, please try to avoid answering “Don’t Know,” as this response is considered a negative result for the Division, and does not provide us with the valuable descriptive feedback necessary to shape our improvement efforts. In some instances, a N/A response may be more appropriate and is not considered a negative result for the Division.

If you have questions about the survey completion, please reach out to your school’s principal for clarification. They will be very willing to assist you.

Student success is incredibly important to us. As you may know, our funding is based on student enrollment. The higher the enrollment, the more supports we can offer to better serve our students to be more successful.

For a snapshot of the data collected through the 2024 survey, check out the graphics included above and in our 2023-2024 Annual Education Results Report located on the homepage of the PRSD website.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to fill out the surveys and for returning them to Alberta Education on our behalf.
