With an eye toward ensuring our students are exceptionally well-prepared for the rigors and opportunities of senior high school, we are excited to announce an important initiative for our Grade 9 students transitioning into this crucial stage of their education.
Empowering Our Grade 9 Students with Essential Digital Skills
Beginning this school year, on June 11, all students entering Grade 9 will participate in a focused four-week course designed to cultivate their proficiency in the Google Workspace environment. This program will allow them to earn six valuable CTS 10 level credits, providing them with a significant head start as they move into their senior high studies. Moving forward, this course will also be available to all PRSD high school students who have not previously completed these credits.
A Special Incentive for Our Students
We recognize that this course extends beyond the regular school year, and we deeply appreciate the commitment of our students to engage in this important learning opportunity. To acknowledge their dedication and encourage successful completion of all six credits, the PRSD is pleased to offer a Chromebook to every student who successfully meets all course requirements. We believe this tool will further empower their learning journey.

Our decision to make this course a mandatory component of the Grade 9 experience stems from our unwavering commitment to student success. We want to ensure that every student entering senior high possesses the essential technological skills to confidently navigate their coursework and utilize the digital tools that are integral to learning today.
For those students who already feel comfortable with these technologies, this course offers a valuable opportunity to solidify their skills and earn important high school credits early in their academic careers. Ultimately, this initiative is about equipping all our students with the tools they need to thrive and successfully achieve the 100 credits required for graduation.
How the Course Will Be Delivered
This course will be delivered through an independent, self-paced online learning platform, namely Google Classroom. Students will receive all course materials at the beginning of the program, allowing them to work through the content at a pace that suits their individual learning style. Importantly, our dedicated PRSD teachers will be readily available throughout the duration of the course to provide support, guidance, and assess student work.
