Learning Services

Peace River School Division's Learning Services team supports student achievement across Peace River School Division through professional learning for staff, curriculum implementation, instructional coaching, and inclusive education practices.

Our team of Divisional Coordinators have a shared responsibility to work with teachers, educational assistants, and school administrators to offer effective instruction in all areas of the Alberta curriculum. We lead professional development on assessment literacy and new curriculum adoption, coordinate support for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners and Indigenous students, manage inclusive education services and assistive technology, and guide students and families through pathways to post-secondary success and dual-credit opportunities.

Our Learning Services Team is led by Assistant Superintendent Cheryl Gascoyne, with support from Director of Learning Services Amanda Bliska. Together, they lead a team of six Divisional Coordinators who are primarily tasked with the important work of student success.

Meet the Coordinators

  • Taryn Zak, Divisional Inclusive Education Program Coordinator

  • Hayley White, Divisional Inclusive Education and Early Learning Program Coordinator

  • Tanna Bailey, Divisional Inclusive Education Program Coordinator

Together, the above team of educators work to provide all students with equitable access to learning and the support they need to succeed. Our Divisional Inclusive Education Coordinators work with school-based I-Coaches to help teachers adopt instructional and assessment practices that meet diverse learner needs in every classroom. They support the effective use of assistive technology, coordinate learning supports for assessment, and provide assistance for identified students through Individualized Program Plans (IPPs), Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), Modified School Programs (MSPs), and other specialized documentation.

For our youngest learners, Hayley White assists families of students who are entering Kindergarten through the PUF (Program Unit Funding) program, ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive from day one. The PUF program, also known as the Early Learning Intervention Program, is an early intervention and specialized support program for children between the ages of 2 years, 8 months and 6 years of age with severe developmental disabilities or delays.
