PRSD Celebrates Graduates with Eagle Feather Ceremonies

Elder Matilpi emphasized that all students, regardless of gender, are warriors on their educational journey. He acknowledged the challenges young people face today, balancing electronics with face-to-face interactions, and navigating grief, loss, pain, and laughter throughout their lives. He commended the graduates for their strength in overcoming these obstacles, stating, "It wasn't easy, but with your friends, your teachers, your family, to be there to support you. You got here." He reminded them that their inner strength was their constant companion throughout this journey, and this is why each one of them is considered a warrior today.
Elder Matilpi also shared important teachings about the sacredness of the eagle feather, and he emphasized the importance of storing the feathers in a respectful way. Elder Matilpi shared many teachers with the students about the act of giving protocol, the significance of tobacco, how to care for a feather that has fallen to the ground, and the significance of the feather itself.
The Peace River School Division commends the graduates for completing this significant part of their life's journey and embracing their cultural heritage through participating in the Eagle Feather Ceremonies.
