May 5 is Bus Driver Appreciation Day

Today is Bus Driver Appreciation Day! From the PRSD to all of our bus drivers, THANK YOU for the vital role you play in our students' lives, ensuring their safe journeys. Your kindness and dedication create moments of joy and connection that truly make a difference in our students' well-being.
To help demonstrate just how wonderful our drivers' are, we want to share this story that was recently shared with us by another PRSD staff member, and parent.
"I am a teacher at Peace River High School. My young daughters get picked up by the bus at the High School, and they ride bus 39, Amber Smith's bus.
"Amber, and her passengers, have gotten to know a student that I often have with me at the bus stop. This student attends Peace High, and she has a lot of special needs. My student absolutely loves to see the buses go by, and it makes her whole day when people wave at her. Amber and her passengers always go past us nice and slow, so that they can wave and say hello to my student through the window.
"Amber and her passengers are always so excited to see my student, and it brings my student so much joy! She literally talks about it all day, and she looks forward to seeing them. That kindness and attention means the world to this student, and it is so touching to witness. I just wanted to say how incredible Amber is to always have the time and energy to make my student's day. My own kids love her as a bus driver, and she is always looking out for all of the kids. What a fantastic bus driver!"
