Community organizations receive PRSD’s nutrition grant funding to support families in need

For immediate release
May 15, 2020 – Peace River School Division (PRSD) is pleased to share that PRSD’s remaining nutrition grant funding totalling $203,744 has been given to various organizations in all of PRSD’s school communities to support families during this challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The grant funding, provided by Alberta Education is dedicated to support wellness by ensuring students are provided with healthy food while in school. With the  cancellation of in-school classes and students no longer being at the school, Alberta Education encouraged school  divisions to find ways to share the remaining funds with communities to help families in need.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has no doubt created many challenges and hardships for families in our communities and we are grateful to have the opportunity to help in this way” says PRSD Superintendent Paul Bennett. “We wish to thank all the organizations receiving the grant funding for their time, work and coordination to ensure  the funds help community members in this time of need.”
