PRSD declares May 30th PRSD's Canada 150 celebration day - schools to sing O'Canada in unison
On May 30, 2017, PRSD will celebrate the 150th birthday of Canada during a division-wide celebration.
Approximately 3500 students and staff will share in the spirit of being Canadian by joining in the singing of O’Canada, in unison, at 10:00 am. Students and staff will also wear red and white on May 30th and host various activities and presentations celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday. Thanks to PRSD’s Instructional Materials Centre, and the Government of Canada, 3500 Canadian mini flags and pins have been ordered, which are offered for no cost by the government.
PRSD’s Technology Department is exploring the possibility to connect all schools through technology during the division-wide singing of O'Canada and schools are encouraged to use live social media platforms as a way to share and invite our communities to sing along.
A listing of PRSD’s Canada 150 Birthday Celebration events and activities will be shared here once school celebration plans are in place and will also be shared on school and divisional websites, newsletters and social media.
PRSD chose May 30, 2017 as the official celebration day as it is the 150th day of the year. The board of trustees has a board meeting on that day and looks forward to singing the Canadian anthem along with students and staff at 10:00am.
