From a Divisional PLC: The goal of this project was to examine the Alberta English Programs of Study for Grades 7 to 12 and determine which academic vocabulary most impacts student learning. This includes language that is used instructionally across disciplines and impacts students' ability to demonstrate their knowledge. Identifying the vocabulary led to developing a list and a tool (that could be used with Smart Board technology) both in instruction and assessment to support learners in developing a deeper common language to explain their learning.
